Today, I was honored to be part of a ceremony honoring the life-saving actions of two off duty police officers... one a deputy for Wicomico County Sheriff Department and one a Corrections officer at ECI. Both were off duty and working out at the YMCA in Salisbury, when they heard of a person in need.
The person in need happened to be my friend, Stephen Slocum who suffered from sudden death cardiace arrest while lifting weights. Their quick action and the action of a Y employee saved Stephen's life. I am confident that God alligned things in a necessary way to make this happen for Good. And Stephen isn't missing a beat in sharing the story of God's healing and grace. He even did so today after the award was presented. So Cool!
Thanks be to God for his transforming power! Stephen survived something that less than 5% of people who suffer from it survive and even more, he has NO lasting effects.... most people that die of this and come back suffer from brain damage or other debilatating problems... but NOT Stephen.
