Everyday, I walk 4 laps around the mall. And today, they have the Christmas decorations up in full force! I have been noticing that stores around town are begining early this year. And now the mall has joined in. The trees are up, ornaments hung, picture with santa place ready, and it is only the 4th of November.
This got me thinking... Conspiracy! Is it about Christmas or is it about making money! The stores are trying to imporve their bottom line by enticing shoppers earlier. And what is Christmas about anyway???
This year at Community of Joy, we will be looking at the theme Advent Conspiracy: Give Presence. And we will break that into 4 areas... Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More, and Love All. Not sure what it will look like yet. But we will be exploring the conspiracy!
A great way to begin thinking in a new way about Christmas is to attend our Alternative Christmas Gift Market on Saturday from 9 a.m. - 12 noon at our ministry center.
