Never Know...

I am taking a break from preaching this week and have cleared the calendar to play carpenter.  Yesterday, three of us met at the Ministry Center to begin the challenge of determining the cause and fix the sagging floor in the lobby.  When we began, we had no idea what we would find.  That is always the case when you are working with an old building.

We began by looking again at the problem area from the crawl space below... but that proved not too helpful.  Then we pulled up the carpet and discovered the problem.  Seems that when the new addition lobby was built, they spanned the gap between new and old which was the old wall by only using a piece of 1/2 inch particle board and 1/4 luan.  The rest of the floor has 2  - 3/4 inch plywood and 1/2 inch particle board and 1/4 luan.  They should have known better!

Today we begin the task of putting it all back together!

What a blessing that someone in our fellowship knows about wood! I guess that goes on the list of gifts that a church has.
